This Weekend
Friday - Saw Hi Ho Silver Oh at Cinespace. Awkward space, fun show.
Saturday - Watched Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs in IMAX 3D which just so happens to be my favorite movie yet this year. I'm not kidding. It's great.
Sunday - Brunch with Cece Garcia and Ben Greene
Awesome.

Driver's Test
I'm taking a driver safety course online because I got a speeding ticket.
Here's what it says under the "Stress and Fatigure" section:
Listen to music that makes you smile.
Play meditation tapes or chants (watch it! don't get too relaxed!).
Breathe deeply and rhythmically. Do some calisthenics before
getting into your car. Roll your shoulders and neck at red
lights. Sing.
I discovered this and loved it so much I thought I had to share it with the world. People like this are not capable of understanding that they are a joke.

Google Tip Jar
Google Tip Jar is a kind of new, funky thing where it just has a few tips about how to improve your life in a different categories: food, travel, eco, etc...
It's worth a few minutes to check out and it could evolve into something very interesting down the line.

Rock 'n Roll Audition
POST UPDATE: Had to take down Rock 'n Roll Audition temporarily because of some editing changes. We'll put it back up soon!
This is the "sequel" to Army Audition that we did a couple weeks back. Main difference: we are shooting with Tony Scott's awesome Canon XH-A1 now. NICE!
Be sure to watch it in HD. Mainly because you can.

Kiefer and John
Just met Kiefer Sutherland (Jack Bauer). He's very nice, but he thought I said, "T.C." instead of "C.C."
We're going to have John Malkovich in one of our upcoming sketches!! Stayed tuned to theoutsidejoke.com for funny sketches.

David Bazan and Horatio Sanz Party with Us
David Bazan played a concert in my living room on Friday night. Apparently he's into doing house shows, so our house was a venue where tickets were actually sold online to enter our home! I worked late so I only saw the last hour of the show, but it was gnarly.
Horatio Sanz is apparently a friend of David's and came as well. I didn't even recognize him at first. Apparently he's lost a lot of weight!

My Newest Year Yet
A Short Story of My Agonizing Experiences
When I got back to Los Angeles I realized that I didn't have my keys. Some time in the previous two weeks I had lost them which meant that I had no access to my car or my house. None of my roommates were back in town yet.
So I rented a car. ($109)
I knew my window was unlocked and my room is on the second floor of my house. So the logical thing to do was to climb up on the first floor roof and break into my house where I could find my spare key.
I pulled my rental Prius up next to the house and tried to climb from the roof of it on to the first floor roof. The idea was far worse in practice than it even sounds right now.
So I decided to just scale the side of my house. I'm not very strong so this was pretty hard. But after scraping up my right arm pretty nicely, I was on the roof. I pulled off the screen to my window and break in to my house. I searched for my spare key.
I cannot find my spare key.
I went to get my luggage out of the rental car and when I got to the front door I saw that I had unlocked the dead bolt but not the little twisty on-the-doorknob lock. So I'm locked out again.
I broke back into my house.
I WILL NOW ACCELERATE THE REMAINDER OF THE STORY
- Extend car rental. (another $109)
- Call five Nissan dealerships. (lots of cell phone minutes used)
- Go to get key made at dealership. They need my car to be physically there to make a key. (wasted gas)
- Get friend to drive me to John Wayne Airport in Orange County just to drop off rental car because dealerships are closed on New Year's Day. (1 hour drive)
- Get friend to drive me back to John Wayne Airport so I can find my car because I don't remember where I parked. (another 1 hour drive)
- Get AAA to tow me to dealership. (dealt with towing service's bad attitude)
- Get spare keys made. ($250! 2 hour wait)
- Suffer endless mockery. (7 hours and counting)
